People often underestimate the effects that early darkness can have on them during the long winter nights of this festive season. This is why it’s so important to take advantage of all the exciting things to do in the amazing city of Atlanta. Garden Lights & Holidays Nights at the Atlanta Botanical Gardens is just one event this year you won’t want to miss.
THINGS TO SEE
This is a popular holiday event for residents of our Atlanta apartments as well as the wider metropolitan area. Perfect for both kids and adults, you’ll find much more than just a few Christmas lights strung up along the plants. This event puts technology to good use, incorporating an impressive display of LED bulbs programmed to show different natural wonders, such as volcano explosions and meteor showers. Called Nature’s Wonders, the display has more than a thousand strings of lights hanging from trees up to 64 feet high! From huge candles to model trains, attendees will get an impressive array of things to see (and do). There’s even a place to stop and make s’mores over a fire, or to have an evening drink or meal!
WHEN TO GO
The event runs from now until January 7, and tickets range from $19.95 to $39.95 for adults. The Garden Lights exhibit is open every day of the week from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m Sunday to Thursday and from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m on Friday and Saturday. There are more than 2 million lights to be seen across 30 acres of botanical gardens, and the event is expected to see more than 165,000 visitors this year alone. Other exhibits to note include the Tunnel of Light and the Ice Goddess. The Orchestral Orbs is another fun favorite where lights change colors to the beat of different songs.
